Efficient Cutting Technology: Handover of a Multi-Crosscut Saw
In February, we had the pleasure of delivering a MAS‑type multi‑crosscut saw to SCHLESSELMANN GMBH in northern Germany. Founded in 1910, this family‑run company—now in its fifth generation—ranks among the most modern and sustainable sawmill operations in the region.
The crosscut saw is designed for the precise trimming of large board volumes in variable lengths. It features six saw supports and a total cutting length of 6,100 mm. A standout characteristic is the high degree of flexibility: five of the six supports can be individually positioned electrically and lowered pneumatically.
The control system, developed by our long‑standing partner SEW, offers extensive configuration options—both for individual supports and for the coordinated operation of all five movable units, including automatic kerf compensation. In total, the machine provides an impressive 10 adjustable axes, all conveniently managed via the operator panel.
Boards are automatically singulated from the magazine, cut to length, and transferred via a synchronized conveyor—engineered and built by us—into the existing planing machine. The entire process runs fully automatically at feed speeds of up to 80 m/min.
For the official handover, we were delighted to welcome Managing Director Mr. Ralf Schlesselmann and his son Luca to our facility. Following a comprehensive introduction, we demonstrated the machine under real production conditions. “The machine fully meets our expectations. We are very satisfied and would like to thank MS MASCHINENBAU for the close and cooperative collaboration,” Mr. Schlesselmann remarked.
We extend our sincere thanks to SCHLESSELMANN GMBH for their trust and wish them continued success and enjoyment with their new line.
